Durian Cheesecake

Baked this durian cheesecake on Sunday. Somehow or rather, I have forgotten to use the baking paper, therefore, the edge of my cake doesn't look nice as I have to use a scrapper to go through the edge of the cake first before removing the cake. :(

Verdict:
KH: Nice
KH mom: Taste better than the first attempt.
Aunty: Nice
Cousin Michelle: Nice

Dark Chocolate Muffin

Previously, the recipes that I tried are all cake recipes. This time I wanna try out other baking recipes rather than cakes, so I choose to bake muffin. I got this recipe from Do What I Like blog.

Something for me to remember: First attempt, the sweetness is ok when I am using Phoon Huat dark chocolate chips. 2nd attempt is too sweet after using Hershey's semi bittersweet chocolate chips.

Found this recipe from Hong's Kitchen Blog. In the blog, the temperature to bake the cake is not indicated, therefore, i tried to bake it at 200C for 1 hour..... And the end result: my cakes are a bit burnt. =.="

Japanese Sponge Cheesecake

Just bought an oven recently. The first cake i wanna bake is Japanese Sponge Cheesecake, but it failed for a few times. This is my dunno 4th or 5th attempt... And finally, I succeeded.. hehehehe... I brought this to my grandma's place, my aunties commented that it is nice, and asked me to bake again next sat... lol.

I used the recipe from a blog called Sweet for Treats. But, the only difference in my recipe is that i reduced the sugar from 140g to 100g so that the cake will not taste so sweet, and i baked the cake for 1 hr at 180C using top and bottom heating.

Non-baked Lemon Cheesecake - 3rd attempt

This time I have used the non-baked lemon cheesecake recipe found on the Philadelphia cream cheese box. In the original recipe, gelatine is used, but for this attempt, I have replaced gelatine with agar agar powder. The outcome of the cheesecake is too soft, but still able to set. I guess its because of the lemon's acidity. I did some findings online and found that agar agar does not really work well with acidic food as it contains enzymes which break down the gelling ability... I guess I have to add more agar agar to the mixture in order to make the cake set well.

Verdict:
Personally, I find it quite sweet. =.="
Mom: Sweetness is just right, but the cheesecake is too soft.
Brother: Its very sweet... He prefer chocolate cheesecake.
KH: Too soft.
Fei-li-pu: The cheesecake is ok. Sweetness is ok. He likes the crust. =.=" Suggested me to make lemon yogurt cake.

Recipe
Ingredients
8 pcs Digestive Biscuits crumbs
50g unsalted butter melted
2x 250g Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened at room temperature
1 tbsp agar agar powder
1/4 cup water
400g can Full Cream Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp grated lemon rind

Directions
1) Mix biscuit crumbs with melted butter and press into based of a 20cm baking pan. Freeze the pan for abt 30mins.
2) Beat cream cheese with a mixer until smooth.
3) Add in condensed milk, lemon juice and rind.
4) Mix and stir agar agar powder in water. Simmer over low heat until dissolved.
5) Blend in the agar agar into the cream cheese mixture.
6) Pour the cream cheese mixture into the baking pan. Chill in refrigerator overnight.

He put me plane again

Yesterday he put me plane again. We had agreed to meet up for dinner, but he overslept and left me waiting for more than an hour at bugis junction. I had tried to call him for >10 times, but no answer. Sms him, he doesn't reply me. Even though he knows that I called him, he never call me back to ask why i called. So irresponsible.

Many times when we meet up, he is always late for 40 mins or more. I am already very hungry by then, but he is so inconsiderate leaving me waiting for him. The only time when he is on time is when we are meeting his friends also. Sometimes i am wondering if we should carry on like this. He is not putting in any effort. Most of the times, he doesn't admit his mistakes. He doesnt't even say sorry to me when he is late. He is not respecting me and this relationship.

Since he dun like to talk to me on the phone, I will never ever call him again unless he take his initiative to call me.

Non-baked Lemon Cheesecake - 2nd attempt

This is my 2nd attempt in making the non-baked lemon cheesecake. Failed my 1st attempt as the cheesecake failed to hardened. The cheesecake is successful after my 2nd attempt. But, the colour is not correct as I bought the wrong agar agar powder.... I didn't noticed that there is colouring for the agar agar powder, I thought it is colourless :(.... So, in the end, my non-baked lemon cheesecake become green colour. Machiam pandan cake.... dotz... =.=" Anyway, I found the recipe from Florence's blogspot. She has posted a few non-baked cheesecake recipe in her blog.
Note: Something different from the original recipe. I have replaced gelatin with agar agar powder as my family members are lacto vegetarian... (And =.=", this is the reason i failed the first attempt, coz i didn't use gelatin. =.=")
Verdict:
Mom: - Doesn't taste like cheesecake, no cheese taste. Oreo cheesecake tastes better.
Bro: - Same. Doesn't taste like cheesecake, no cheese taste. Tastes like normal cake. Hardness wise, still ok. Nothing fascinating.
Ok, looking at the comment, I think maybe I did something wrong in the middle.. or maybe because of the agar agar??? Haiz. My next try will be lemon cheesecake again, but using 2 blocks of cream cheese and eggs, omitting the whipping cream and agar agar to see if it tastes better.

Non-baked Oreo Cheesecake - 1st attempt

Found this recipe on flowerpod forum posted by bernice, so I decided to give it a try. My first attempt of Non-baked Oreo cheesecake. Comments from Kelly and my family are good. Personally I find the taste ok, but kh find it a bit cheesy and not sweet enough. So, I did a second try on making the cheesecake again. This time i added more sugar. And voilĂ , kh commented it tastes perfect.

Back in Singapore

Lebanon DFS
Hmmm.. Strange, wanted to buy a bottle of vodka level for kh, so when I am at the Lebanon DFS, I tried to buy the alcohol, but the people there says that if my final destination is not Doha, then they are not able to sell me the alcohol.... Didn't know that such rule is being implemented. Such a pity... The alcohols from Lebanon DFS are cheaper. :(

Doha Airport
When reached Doha airport, the first thing I do is to buy a bottle for vodka level for kh, and then proceed to the Qatar airline business class lounge.
Frankly speaking, i think the business class lounge looks like library in Singapore. lol.

I am too full to eat most of the food, so had only desserts there.

Stuffs brought back to Singapore
1) Qatar Airline toiletories - Most of the stuffs are from Aigner. O.o

2) Qatar Airline clothes for sleeping? (1 and 2 are given to all the passengers flying on biz class, not sure about economy and first class)

3) Mint Tea - Aids digestion (good for me after eating so much stuffs at Lebanon)

4) Traditional Lebanese Oriental Sweets (drool~~~ its nice.. but not suitable for people who doesnt like very sweet stuffs. lol)

Day 4 in Lebanon - Beirut

Supposed to be a light dinner....
Had a late lunch today (Italian food, treat by my user again. hehehe.. forgot to take the photo of the food)... So, thinking of having some snacks and something light. Saw club sandwich in the room service menu, thought that sandwiches shouldn't be so filling, so I ordered club sandwich as main course and fried shrimps as appetizer. Who knows...... (see the pictures) Managed to finish the plate of fried shrimps and 2 pieces of sandwiches only.... And I am soooooo full after that. =.="

Day 2 in Lebanon - Beirut

Lunch Break
Hmmm... Had a very sinful and filling lunch today.... A treat from my Lebanese user...

I have noticed this when having lunch in the restaurant... Some Lebanese guys are smoking thru this water pipe thingy. They called it shisha. Shisha is a Middle-Eastern smoking tradition that began hundreds of years ago. The tobacco is soaked in fruit shavings such as strawberry, apples or grapes. A small charcoal tablet is used to heat the special flavored tobacco gently. The tobacco never burns, instead, it is filtered when drawn through the water-filled, hand-blown glass base and inhaled through the embroidered hoses. It is claimed that the vapor is incredibly smooth, sweet and aromatic. This shisha thingy is more harmful than normal cigarette. When smoking for one hour via shisha, it is as harmful as smoking up to 200 cigarettes according to some articles. Scary....

A guy with shisha pipe on his lap.

Dinner Time
Ordered dinner from my room.... I told the Room Service operator that I want Poached Salmon for my main course... but Grilled Salmon is send to me instead.... =.="
- Minestone Soup
- Grilled Salmon, with seperate buttered lemon sauce
